Before placing a request through Inter-Library Loan, please make sure your account is free of any fees or overdue materials.  WE CANNOT APPROVE A REQUEST UNTIL YOUR OVERDUE ACCOUNT IS CLEAR.  To check your account, click here and enter your full Library card number or call the library.  Or click here for instructions on checking your account.

 

This service is available only to those with a full-service (white) Westfield Library card.  This service is NOT available to MURAL (yellow) cardholders.  Please check with your hometown library.

Only three items may be requested per day.  The library will not approve requests for items newer than 6 months, or not yet published.

You can request books, audiobooks, movies, CDs, and magazine articles through this service, however not all libraries will lend audio-visual materials.  Please note, there are certain items that are difficult or impossible to obtain, including bestsellers, new titles, Reference works, and rare items.   

Please allow one to four weeks for arrival of ILL materials.  Textbooks and rare titles may take longer to obtain, but we will try to honor your request. 

Please note that we do not obtain titles that we own, unless they are lost or misplaced.  Westfield cardholders may place holds on books, audiobooks, and CDs.

The library will call or email you when the item is available.  You will have 3 days to pick up the item.

ILL items can be checked out for 21 days.  A 2-week renewal can be requested, but at the discretion of the lending library.  Request for renewal must be made at least 3 days before the initial due date.  Items borrowed through ILL do not belong to the Westfield Memorial Library, so we cannot guarantee a renewal.

ILL items must be returned to the Circulation Desk.

  • If you are looking for a book, type title and/or author in the search box.  Click on ‘Search’
  • If you are looking for an audiobook, movie, CD, or magazine article, go to “Advanced Search” and click on “Format.”   For Large Print, click on “Form” then check the appropriate box.
  • After you double-click on “Search” a list of libraries under “Resource Names” will appear.  You can click on either the exact title or the specific library.   Please note that your request sent to a nearby library, such as Cranford, may not arrive any faster than the same item borrowed from Elizabeth or further away.
  • Once you find a record for the item you need, click on the box.

  • Scroll down and type in all required information, identified in red.  You must create a password.   Use the same email address and password to track all of your records on one page.  An email address is NOT required, but please fill in the information if you wish to be contacted via automatic email message when the item arrives.   Once you complete the required information, click “Submit.”
