The Library is closed due to the COVID-19 Outbreak.

Online access will continue, which requires a library card number. If you do not have a library card number please register here and you will be emailed a number.

We will keep you updated as events unfold. We will continue to work closely with the town to ensure the safety of all our patrons, and we hope that everyone continues to be healthy.

  • Before placing a request through Inter-Library Loan, please make sure your account is free of any fees or overdue materials. WE CANNOT APPROVE A REQUEST UNTIL YOUR OVERDUE ACCOUNT IS CLEAR.

  • Please check our library catalog to see if a desired item is owned by the Westfield Library before placing a Jerseycat request for it. Please note that we do not obtain titles that we own, unless the titles are lost or misplaced. Westfield full-service cardholders may place holds on books, audiobooks, and CDs.

    "All patrons wishing to place inter-library loan requests on Jerseycat must use their library barcode number and the 1234 PIN. All other log-ins will no longer be valid. The 1234 PIN cannot be changed."

  • This service is available only to those with a full-service (white) Westfield Library card. This service is NOT available to MURAL (yellow) cardholders. Please check with your hometown library.

  • Only three items may be requested per day. The library will not approve requests for items newer than 6 months, or not yet published.

  • You can request books, audiobooks, movies, CDs, and magazine articles through this service, however not all libraries will lend audio-visual materials. Please note, there are certain items that are difficult or impossible to obtain, including bestsellers, new titles, Reference works, and rare items.

  • Please allow one to four weeks for arrival of ILL materials. Textbooks and rare titles may take longer to obtain, but we will try to honor your request.

    The library will call or email you when the item is available. You will have 3 days to pick up the item.

    ILL items can be checked out for 21 days. A 2-week renewal can be requested, but at the discretion of the lending library. Request for renewal must be made at least 3 days before the initial due date. You cannot renew an item online. Items borrowed through ILL do not belong to the Westfield Memorial Library, so we cannot guarantee a renewal.

    ILL items must be returned to the Circulation Desk.

    Library patrons who borrow anything on InterLibrary Loan are responsible for all replacement costs/fees associated with lost or damaged ILL materials. We must abide by the costs set by the lending library that owns the material. There are no exceptions.

    • If you are looking for a book, type title and/or author in the search box. Click on ‘Search’
    • If you are looking for an audiobook, movie, CD, or magazine article, go to “Advanced Search” and click on “Format.” For Large Print, click on “Form” then check the appropriate box.
    • After you double-click on “Search” a list of libraries under “Resource Names” will appear. You can click on either the exact title or the specific library. Please note that your request sent to a nearby library, such as Cranford, may not arrive any faster than the same item borrowed from Elizabeth or further away.
    • Once you find a record for the item you need, click on the box.

    • The information from your library borrower's record will automatically be filled out into the inter-library loan request form. If you do not have an email address on your borrower's record and you want to add one to the inter-library loan request, you may do so.
