This is one of the most comprehensive sites for locating all types of museums. Museums are listed geographically by continent.

  ARTCYCLOPEDIA   Links everything art, including museums, artists, art history, galleries, art news, etc.  Artcyclopedia takes us to museums with fine art collections and an online presence.  Search by art museum, artist name, title of art work.  There is a special link to lists of women artists broken down by the century in which they lived.
 

GOOGLE CULTURAL INSTITUTE ART PROJECT

Offers unique artworks from famous and obscure museums worldwide.  The Art Project allows the user to discover and view art online in extraordinary detail in super high resolution which allows you to study details of brushwork and patina beyond the naked eye.  The Project covers over 250 institutions, 6,000 artists and more than 45,000 works of art.
